 Brucefan24 ATLANTIC CITY - How many female country singers would whip out a cover version of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" in the middle of their concert and ZZ Top's "Tush" at the end? Probably only one, country superstar Miranda Lambert, who did just that during her headlining arena show Friday at Boardwalk Hall here. The Led Zeppelin and ZZ Top covers were not completely out of character for Lambert who already had started off her concert with many songs that showed off her sassy side and portrayed her as a woman not be messed with. Lambert's single,"Somethin' Bad," a duet with fellow country superstar Carrie Underwood, started off the show, but only the video was shown on three massive screens and played over the sound system. The first song Lambert actually sang was her first hit "Kerosene," which she made memorable with the lines "I've given up on love because love's given up on me." "Kerosene" earned a big applause from the full but not sold-out hall as flames shot up on the video screens. "How y'all doing tonight? Raise 'em up. We're going to do a drinking song," Lambert said before singing one of her earlier singles, "Heart Like Mine." Lambert wore a sleeveless T-shirt of the rock band The Police and jeans that were ripped on the thighs. She was accompanied by a seven-member backing band. Even though Laimbert comes as a firecracker on such songs she sang during the night as "Fastest Girl In Town" and "Baggage Claim," she is not cliché. In concert, Lambert is not shy about showing her sensitive side, which came across as she sang her ballad, "Over You." The middle of her concert featured a string of her more melancholy songs "Smokin' and Drinkin'," "The House That Built Me" and "Automatic," but it's no doubt the hard-working women in the audience reveled in her "woman in control" anthems, which were in abundance. One of Lambert's opening acts, Justin Moore, does not have as many hits as the country star, but based on his performance Friday, it will not be long before he is headlining arenas on his own. Before Moore sang his No. 1 hit "Small Town USA," he told a story about how his record company wanted to release it as a single, but he didn't think it would have mass appeal. Moore said he grew up in a town in Arkansas of about 300 people, much smaller than the crowd he was playing for in the arena. "It was my first No. 1 record. You gave me an opportunity to make music for a living," said Moore, who shook hands with fans in the front row as he sang the song. Lambert gave fans a very difficult choice as to what to do between Moore's set and her closing headlining show.
