 Brucefan24 Credit: Sellersville Theater Website Drive-By Truckers co-founder Patterson Hood’s newest solo record, Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams, produced by Chris Funk (The Decemberists, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks) at various studios in Hood’s current hometown of Portland, OR, marks the singer-songwriter-guitarist’s most expansive and ambitious extracurricular effort to date, supported by a stellar cast of friends and fellow musicians - Waxahatchee, Brad and Phil Cook (Megafaun), Kevin Morby, Wednesday, Brad Morgan and Jay Gonzalez (Drive-By Truckers), Steve Berlin (Los Lobos, The Blasters), David Barbe (Sugar, Mercyland), Nate Query (The Decemberists), Steve Drizos (Jerry Joseph and The Jackmormons), Daniel Hunt (Neko Case, M Ward), and Stuart Bogie (The Hold Steady, Goose). Hood’s fourth solo album and first in over 12 years, Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams sees the veteran singer, guitarist, and songwriter exploring his youth and young manhood in a collection unlike anything in his ever-evolving catalogue. The album was further driven by his friendship with producer/musician Chris Funk, a “profound chemistry” forged upon Hood’s 2013 move to Portland. Having long discussed a collaboration, in 2023 the stars finally aligned, and they set to work on this new album which Hood intended to be “a bigger departure” from DBT and his previous solo efforts than ever before. Artist Website Lydia Loveless (she/her/they/them) is an Ohio-bred singer-songwriter whom over six full length records has defined and defied expectations within the Alt Country and Americana communities. Owing as much to her punk rock upbringing as to her midwest roots, Loveless’ brand of heartland rock has been embraced by critics and listeners alike, with their fanbase growing to include some of Loveless’ heroes like Lucinda Williams and Jason Isbell. The unmistakable voice, an incisive way with melody, and an unrelenting willingness to cast the first stone inward are all hallmarks of Loveless’ songwriting.  Brucefan24 Mahavishnu Project will be opening the show, and will be the backing band for David Sancious and Will Calhoun. David Sancious is a keyboardist, composer, and producer, best known for his work with the E Street Band, as well as his contributions to jazz and progressive rock. He played a significant role in the early development of Bruce Springsteen's sound and later formed his own group, the David Sancious Band. Sancious is highly regarded for his virtuosity on both the piano and synthesizers, blending a variety of musical genres into his distinctive style. Peter Gabriel, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Seal and others have used his talents as pianist, synthesist, guitarist, arranger, and producer on recording sessions and concert tours, playing an eclectic and diverse range of music. Artist Website Will Calhoun is best known for his work with rock band Living Colour. Calhoun is celebrated for his powerful, inventive drumming style and his ability to fuse complex rhythms with intense energy. In addition to his work with Living Colour, he has collaborated with various artists and explored a diverse range of musical genres throughout his career. Not many artists have the vision and artistic energy to be Grammy winners and contribute to so many genres: jazz, rock, hip-hop, ambient, et al, while concurrently producing, touring, creating new projects, working on films, and continually pushing the envelope. Will Calhoun has this creative vision, and he is doing an extraordinary job keeping music a spiritual and motivating force in his life. Artist Website Mahavishnu Project returns to perform their interpretations of the classic music of John McLaughin, Jeff Beck, and Jan Hammer. Mahavishnu Project has become well-known for reaching into the jazz-rock music beyond the John McLaughlin-led originals to include songs of Jeff Beck, featuring guitar virtuoso Robbie Mangano (Sean Lennon/Tom Morello), keyboardist Neil Alexander (The Machine/Eric Person) and bassist Brian Mooney joining drummer and bandleader Gregg Bendian - well-known for his work with Todd Rundgren, Pat Metheny, Nels Cline, Ornette Coleman and John Zorn.
