 Bobby 'CullyRed' Cullinen This was back in my high school years. There were so many amazing concerts at the cow palace. But this type of concert had a multitude of performers who came on, one after the other, only to play about 3 songs.....it seemed like the wait was forever for the headliners The Byrds, and Sonny and Cher ...... the sound systems were terribly inadequate....but no matter, the crowd loved the bands....there was still a sense of innocence in the music of 1965. One year later, things would change radically with the albums, Revolver, Aftermath, and Fresh Cream KYA Presents: Sonny & Cher, Byrds, Lovin' Spoonful, Shangri-Las, Beau Brummels, Little Anthony & The Imperials, Glen Campbell, Castaways, Bobby Freeman, Charlie Rich, Roy Head, Mojo Men, Vejtables, Sunrays, Tikis, Toys at Cow Palace, Daly City Feb 23, 2025

 GaryAura Strange gig, with 3 x different genres of music all at one gig, and there were 3 x different types of punters in the audience, which made it an uneasy atmosphere as various youth cults would often fight each other. First on was blues style musician Lew Lewis Reformer, and so his more elderly plainly dressed fans moved up to the front of the stage to watch him. After it was the the turn of Mod band "The Chords". So then all the Parka wearing Mods moved up to the stage to see their band. Finally The Undertones took to the stage, and the majority Punk style fans pushed forward to the stage (while the Mods & Blues audiences retreated towards the back and sides of the venue). The Undertones were great live. Really tight band, and they played most of their tracks from their debut LP Family Entertainment. As well as Teenage Kicks and Get Over You. Great night, and a very memorable gig due to the strange make up of the audience, and how they all stood in separate groups in the Venue. Note. The Chords guitarist threw his guitar strap into the audience, which I caught and still have on my very old electric guitar...!!! The Undertones / the chords / Lew Lewis Reformer Feb 23, 2025

 GaryAura I had just turned 17 yrs old when I went to this gig at Marquee in Wardour Street. It was packed: Hot, sweaty, with the stink of beer everywhere. 999 were great.! A really tight band live. They played most of their classics: Emergency, Feelin Aright with the Crew, Out of Reach, etc. During the gig I was right at the front, and getting squeezed hard against the edge of the stage as everyone pushed forward. I must have looked in a bad way, as suddenly a roadie on the stage grabbed hold of me and pulled me from the crowd and told me to sit at side of stage. Which I did for rest of gig and had great view. After encore and end of gig, I went into dressing room with band (a heavily graffitied slim small, black room), and they gave me water, and then beer, and I chatted to the band for a while. They were really nice, friendly guys and it was a great gig. One I'll never forget...! 999 Feb 23, 2025

 GaryAura I went to this gig when I was a young 17 yr old Punk. And the gig was pure anarchy - Captain Sensible came on stage wearing a giant green dinosaur tail, inflated by some kind of wind machine by a grey tube. The crowd eventually pulled it off him and ripped it to shreds, leaving Capt Sensible naked with only his guitar - As the gig progressed, the crowd started getting more and more aggressive. They started ripping up the first few rows of seats and throwing them in the orchestra pit in front of stage, as well as throwing things at the band. A few times fans made it across the 'pit' and invaded the stage, where bouncers would grab hold of them and drag them off. Couple of times the band had to stop playing and ask the audience to behave. Indeed, the crowd got so bad the band didn't play their full set, as the crowd were just too rowdy. So during one song the band kinda gave up and they started smashing their own equipment. Drums, guitars, amps all got trashed, and the crowd invaded the stage and joined in. As well as pulling up more seats and throwing them into the 'pit'. The house lights came up and that was the end of the gig. It can't have been more than 30 minutes long. I remember standing there for ages after the mayhem had died down. It was gobsmacking: The Orchestra Pit, which was at least 6 or 7 feet deep was literally full to the brim with broken seats and band equipment...!! It had basically been a riot. I was disappointed cos the band hadn't played many songs, and I don't recall which songs they did play. The gig had only lasted about 30 minutes, if that. Which is why I remember it so well.  GaryAura I went to this gig - Only 2,000 people attended, so it felt like an intimate gig - Zerra 1 were a bit strange & dull, electronic synth music with a beat - a poor man's Simple Minds; they didn't impress - The Alarm were a bit more lively; and Bono came on to sing a song with them; but I was never a fan. Whereas U2 were fantastically original. What a sound; The Edge's guitar sound really made U2 stick out as something new & different. I was impressed how tight they were as a band. They played a good mix of tracks from both Boy & October albums: Gloria, 11 O'clock Tick Tock, Out of Control, Fire, plus a new track called "New Year's Day", which was memorable even back then. Really impressive gig. Crowd loved it and demanded encores, which they got. I was just 19 yrs old, and seeing U2 in front of just 2,000 people was one of the best gigs I ever went to (and I went to a lot)...!!!!! U2 / The Alarm / Zerra 1 Feb 23, 2025
