br54knight Backed by RT's longtime band, James Dupré sang lead vocals the entire show, with his daughter Rellie joining him on "Deeper Than The Holler," and RT singing the last word of "Forever and Ever, Amen" and all of "Amazing Grace." RT and his wife, Mary, sat in chairs on the stage the entire show. James Dupre / Randy Travis / Lee Newton Jul 22, 2023

David Reubens One little problem here is that TRB headlined this gig. Unfortunately I missed SLF as I was outside leafleting for RAR. TRB were as always amazingly inspirational. How we need bands like this now. Stiff Little Fingers / Tom Robinson Band Jul 22, 2023
David Reubens To be picky the gig that night was billed as Acne Rabble, but in reality it was The Pistols. Unfortunately we missed out on them at their best. Most people claim it was a brilliant night, but it was more like wannabe pop stars. The Rock Garden was crammed full, far more than the 450 it was licenced for. The band sent out some Cockney punk in designer punk wear to tell the crowd to get back or "The band 'aint coming on". How very punk!!! As a band to be honest after all the fuss they were not close to The Clash. Maybe a year before it would have been exciting but by August 77 they had become characactures of themselves. Ever feel you've been conned. Sex Pistols Jul 22, 2023
David Reubens I'm sure this would have been an amazing gig had it ever happened. Elvis was at his best at this time but unfortunately Elvis had a bad throat that evening and cancelled the concert. He did make a statement on the local BBC radio channel that afternoon. Local band Blitzkrieg Bop replaced Elvis that evening. I guess who ever put this gig on here must have drank far too much that evening. Bop were good but I don't recollect Frank, Mick, Gloria or Nicky of the band wearing spectacles! Elvis Costello / Attractions Jul 22, 2023
David Reubens This was a perfect evening from beginning to end. Lilli Refrain set the atmosphere with an amazing set. The Mission were their amazing selves. The eighties came flooding back with the music and the Eskimo's human towers. The Cult kept the bar high and gave us about everything we could ask for. The Cult/ The Mission/ Lilli Refrain Jul 22, 2023
