Brett Thiess The Veldt was a last minute replacement for opener Nine Inch Nails, who was gaining in popularity of its album Pretty Little Hate Machine and especially its first single “Down In It”. This same date the single for “Head Like A Hole” was released. Needless to say, fans weren’t thrilled at the change of bands and many gothed out fans sat glumly in the back, only somewhat eager to hear JAMC. Jesus and Mary Chain performed the entire concert backlit, with no spotlights, leaving most of the show to be seen in silhouette. The Jesus & Mary Chain / The Veldt (US) Jan 31, 2023

Brett Thiess This was opening night of the world tour. When asked “why kick off a tour in Louisville” Stipe responded that they like to start tours in weird places. People thought this meant he thought Louisville was “weird” rather than the fact that Louisville is a weird place to start a year and a half world tour. WDJX gave them a hard time on the air for the comment. They made up for it by putting on an amazing nearly 3-hour show leaving everyone fully satisfied. R.E.M. / Robyn Hitchcock Jan 31, 2023
angelajkm We had VIP meet and greet and sound check with Counting Crows. They were super late starting and in a mood because the equipment truck had not arrived yet. We got a few songs with sound check and got to meet them and take a pic. We were watching right in front of the sound mix station and at sound check, Rob Thomas was hanging in there watching the sound check too! Counting Crows / Matchbox Twenty Jan 31, 2023
