helenhelenhelen So so so much love in that room. The most incredible night celebrating Harry’s House on the day of its release. Hearing him play the album without having learned the lyrics yet made this show feel so much more intimate. I’ll never forget what it felt like to run back onto the floor when we all thought the concert was over, but then Harry decided to play As It Was one last time. I genuinely might have left a part of my soul in UBS Arena… Harry Styles Sep 11, 2022
helenhelenhelen The amount of groveling I did to secure these tickets was genuinely worrisome. But one thing about me is I’ll end up finding a way to a Harry show no matter what. This was such a different vibe compared to One Night Only, now that everyone has had 3 months to sit with the new album. Unforgettable start to tour, and a beautiful homecoming for Harry at MSG.  helenhelenhelen What a beautiful end to Harryweekend. MSG was so loud this night & the atmosphere felt just a touch more special than the previous show. Witnessing the first surprise Medicine of the tour had me crying and throwing up in my section 300 seats. Heard these songs so many times now but I’m still not tired. I never want to stop seeing this man on tour ❤️ Harry Styles / Blood Orange Sep 11, 2022

Jeffrey Lee I arrived at the Russell Collection Fine Art Gallery an hour early at 5:00, as I wasn't sure what to expect, or how many people would attend. And I didn't want to find myself sweating outside in the 100 degree heat that's typical of Austin now. As I entered the gallery I was met by a blast of chilled air and a greeter or hostess. She checked my name against the list of invitees, and I was asked to surrender my iPhone with the on duty Austin Police detective. She informed me that this was a precaution against taking photographs or video. That was o.k. with me, but (of course) it also meant no photo ops. There were only four or five people inside at the moment, and all of them appeared to be connected with the gallery, or so I thought. I was then offered a choice of white wine or champagne, I accepted the champagne and started my casual tour of the art that was on exhibit. The very first thing I noticed were all the works were fixed price, and were literally thousands of light years out of my reach. The closest one being $12,000.00. It was apparent I was going to be slumming among the elite, as my financial situation dictates my vagrant status. As I made my way around I was met by a friendly young lady who struck up polite conversation with me about the art. I assumed she was connected with the exhibit and was just being pleasant, while evaluating my motive and assessing my ability to purchase. I was on my best behavior making sure every word that exited my highly opinionated mouth was of a positive nature. She seemed genuinely interested in the book I was holding. It was painfully obvious to her I was only there to seek an autograph, as I couldn't hide the authors name. I had just branded myself a looky-loo in her eyes and awaited her reaction. While commenting on things like acrylics, color, canvas, application methods, and textures (the kind of pithy patter arty types like to hear) the book I couldn't hide became a topic. And why not, I'm not buying any art so pitch the book as if it were a Popiel Pocket Fisherman instead. At least she was listening and not making an excuse to flee or have me tossed out. There was someone going about taping sheets of paper strategically around the gallery and to the front door, informing everyone that Mr. Taupin will not be signing any autographs, and asked that none be requested of him. Swell. The opportunity I had entertained went right out the back door and straight into the dumpster. I may as well wrap this up and split for home. Without commenting on the bad news and looking disappointed, I continued talking with this lady elaborating on what I found fascinating about Taupin's book. Prattling on about how most fans aren't aware of it's existence, and suggesting that it should be reprinted and made available through his website. Heaping praise on how it put things into perspective and revealed influences in the early song writing. In essence, I delivered an unsolicited, long winded infomercial on an obscure book nearly a quarter century out of print. I even made a wry comment about how fate had rescued Bernie from having to operate a farm tractor pulling a manure spreader. That remark made her laugh. And that snowballed into my father-in-law having a 2000 acre working ranch two hours west of town. I went on about ranch work - digging fence post holes, stretching barb wire, mending fences, repairing mowing decks, and controlling mesquite trees, as I've had much experience in this area over the past thirteen years. The subject of ranching alone should have ended our conversation instantly (I was hoping it would), as most would have said 'Nice chatting with you, gotta go' and make a hasty retreat. I honestly expected her to break it off and drift away, but she hung on. I'm thinking now here's an Austinite with a ranch in her background...had to be. A number of people started to fill the small gallery, so I began to excuse myself by explaining I should leave now and be home in time to put my daughter to bed. I had now made a conscious decision to myself not pursue a shameless act. I told her I wasn't going to risk making a fool of myself and embarrassing Bernie imposing for an autograph. The gallery staff who allowed me to attend would certainly not appreciate it. Indeed - the writing was literally on the wall. Suddenly she says to me "Well, please don't leave yet Jeff, my husband will be happy to sign your book." Silence "Your husband?" "My names Heather, Heather Taupin, I'm Bernie's wife." She shakes my hand. "I travel to most of these functions with him, and he never signs autographs. You've been very candid and sincere, and I'll see that he signs it for you just as soon as he comes out." I was suddenly seized by an indescribable grip of terror. I've just spent the better part of an hour conversing with not an employee of the gallery, but with Mrs. Taupin. I'm numb. At the prescribed moment Bernie makes his scheduled appearance. Impeccably dressed in a brownish beige suit, dark shirt and tie and wearing glasses. Immediately his wife motions to him to join us and she makes the introduction; "Bernie, this is Jeff. We've just had a most enjoyable conversation." "Jeff, nice to meet you." We shake hands. "Jeff brought your book along for you to sign." "By all means. Jeff I appreciate you coming out, I hope you enjoyed reading it." He leans over a desk and before I can offer up my blue ball point pen...he magically conjures up the dreaded Sharpie. His wife smiles and quips "See." Bernie admonishes me: "Now don't tell anyone I did this." "Yes sir." "Jeff...thanks, nice meeting you." We shake hands once more. "Thanks Bernie, Thanks Mrs. Taupin." "It's Heather." She shakes my hand. "Jeff, it was good talking with you, tell your little girl I said hi." Bernie wandered off to meet and greet with prospective buyers, as I made my way to the officer who has custody of my iPhone. As I exited out into the blistering Austin heat, I notice at least twenty or more fans have gathered sitting along the side walk. All sweating clutching their various albums and Cds, not allowed admittance to the air conditioned and exclusive affair inside. How dangerously close I came to maybe having to sit among them, wasting precious family time at this hour. I'll be delivering my note of thanks to the gallery for my invitation Tuesday. I arrived home in plenty of time to see my daughter to bed, and kiss her goodnight. Bernie Taupin Sep 09, 2022
