 Cookie Went with my nephew Caelan. It was predicted to be 38-40c through the day, but we managed to stay away from too much sun. Once we got through the entry point, we went to the biggest merch stand I've ever seen. I got an event t-shirt with bands and dates on the back, which I love. First band we saw was on stage 2, Scene Queen which were a real surprise packet, and so good for a 3-piece band. The heat was building so we managed to refill our water bottles and get some water mist on our backs, which made it so much better. Next band we were up front for was Refused, absolutely incredible. No fanfare, they just walked on stage and blew us away. This was their final ever show in Sydney as they are dis-banding after one last show in their hometown of Noma in Sweden. so happy to have witnessed them in their glory. I almost caught one of their drumsticks!! next we went to see Gwar on stage 3. I had NO CLUE what to expect, but didn't they deliver!! Caelan and I moshed and sang together and their last song "Sick of You" is now living rent-free in my head. A great set. Then Caelan and I caught a bit of shade, sitting along the side of the crowd as we watched Goldfinger put on a snappy and fine set. Caelan went off to see other bands, and we arranged to meet up for Kublai Kahn TX, I stuck around for the frontman of Aussie Crawl, James Reyne, and he just delivered in spades, such a great set and had all the crowd singing so many of his hits. After James and a bite to eat, I headed into the main arena to see Garbage put on a great set on stage 1, Then Weezer on stage 2, I didn't really know too much about them, I knew a handful of songs, but once they finished, Caelan and I were ready for the main headliner, TooL and OMFG, they opened with Stinkfist and the stage and lightshow were mind bending, absolutely incredible.
