Soundco I was at this concert and shot many photos. Sammy Hagar absolutely ROCKED! A few years after this concert there was a short interview with Sammy on MTV and he was asked what was the worst concert he ever played. His response was this concert in Des Moines. He went on to say that it was a really poor turn out because the venue was only about a third full but he said it was the most kick ass concert he'd ever played! When he came back a year later this concert was sold out. Sammy Hagar / The Rockets Sep 13, 2021

Lollygagger88 The Black Crowes never fail to put on a great show. Always fun and entertaining! Unfortunately the same can’t be said about the opening act Dirty Honey. Don’t bother trying see them. Not worth it. The Black Crowes / Dirty Honey Sep 11, 2021
LJ Yes, I saw this whole concert back in the day, as I was a British soldier serving in the then known West Germany, based in Fallingbostel. What an amazing gig and my very first ever.  Dick W. Pirkey, jr. I was at the July 3, 1977 concert by Lynryd Skynryd. It was hot and the water trucks from the dirt track were circling the perimeter with the water shooting out. There were vendors selling weed in the crowd on the floor. Some were in seats around and some were on the center track grounds. Every time the truck would come around there would be girls on it with no tops on. Girls were on shoulders with their tops off. The crowd was peaceful. There were thousands of people. I slept in my car the night before it opened. When they paled FREE BIRD.... the crowd was at a fever pitch..... the crescendo built and as did you awareness of what was happening. Till this day....44 years later, the hair on my neck stands up every time I hear FREE BIRD. It was magical....... Lynyrd Skynyrd Sep 09, 2021
