stephenhuerta March 1971, and I’m still in high school, and my second time at the famous Whisky A Go Go. This was Wishbone Ash’s LA debut, and they were hot. They played the entire first album, but it was the song Handy that blew me away this evening. Wishbone Ash were hot, duel lead guitars. You should’ve been there. Wishbone Ash / Ned Jun 10, 2025
stephenhuerta February 1971, I was still in high school. This was my second time seeing both Grand Funk Railroad and Black Sabbath. This was a fuckin’ hot show. But it is a first, it’s the first time I smoked a joint and got high at a concert, and I wanted to experience this with Black Sabbath. What an amazing night, my body was vibrating with the music. I peaked when they played the song Black Sabbath, unreal. I’ll always remember this show. Grand Funk Railroad were hot too. One for the books. Grand Funk Railroad / Black Sabbath Jun 10, 2025

stephenhuerta December 1970, my first time seeing The Moody Blues, Spirit and Trapeze. I can’t recall much about Spirit, but I really got off on Trapeze. It was total in British rock bands, and Trapeze were British, and they were a trio, my favorite. I thought Trapeze were hot. Then it was the Moodies, they were great, my first live mellotron show. You should’ve been there. The Moody Blues / Spirit / Trapeze Jun 09, 2025

stephenhuerta November 1970, this was my first time seeing Jethro Tull, I was still in high school. I know now that Tull played numerous shows before this LA Forum gig, but I wasn’t aware of these shows. I wasn’t driving in 1970, so I couldn’t go out of my way for all the LA, Santa Monica, Pasadena and Orange County shows. Like I said previously, the LA Forum was accessible, it was close to Torrance, just down the road. In the 70’s I found myself going to quite a few Forum shows. Jethro Tull were great, I remember when they played My God live, way before it was recorded and released, it was great. Ian Anderson’s chance to shine with his flute solo segment of the show. Martin Barre proved himself with his dynamic guitar solo on Wind Up. An amazing show. Jethro Tull Jun 09, 2025
