stephenhuerta November, 1970, was my first time at the legendary Whisky A Go Go, and I saw Black Sabbath there. What an amazing night. By this time my brother was driving, so we started driving ourselves to farther shows and venues. This is where I got my first taste of “the club”, and how much more intimate the shows were. After this evening, we went to the Whisky every chance we had. This was Black Sabbath’s L.A. debut, and they were amazing. Once again in invited my secret love, Karen to the show. The Whisky A Go Go, you should’ve been there. Black Sabbath / Ashton, Gardner & Dyke Jun 08, 2025
stephenhuerta 1970, my first time seeing Led Zeppelin, I was still in high school. Zeppelin played numerous shows in L.A. prior to their first L.A. Forum appearance, like the Rose Palace in Pasadena. I don’t recall hearing anything about that show, but then I wasn’t driving yet. Pasadena, Hollywood just seemed so far at the time. But when Zeppelin played the L.A. Forum we were living in Torrance, which was pretty much just down the street to Inglewood. I lived off 182nd, just down the street to Prairie Avenue, make a right, go down 6-7 miles, and you’re there. I took advantage of that and had my dad drive me there, and he’d pick me up. Led Zeppelin were great, I loved the hippie vibe. That all started in 1968, when I went to the Forum for the first time, to see The Doors. The rest is L.A.Forum history. LOL!
