The Veldt was a last minute replacement for opener Nine Inch Nails, who was gaining in popularity of its album Pretty Little Hate Machine and especially its first single “Down In It”. This same date the single for “Head Like A Hole” was released. Needless to say, fans weren’t thrilled at the change of bands and many gothed out fans sat glumly in the back, only somewhat eager to hear JAMC. Jesus and Mary Chain performed the entire concert backlit, with no spotlights, leaving most of the show to be seen in silhouette.
