Unknown2463 “The Split Enz advert for the Melbourne Under 18’s concert. June 29th 1980. $2.50 to see Split Enz! This ones a bit special for me as well. The first Split Enz live show since starting work in the ENZ office at Sth Melbourne. Our Skyhooks band broke up after their last appearance in Countdown (June 15th 1980). Nathan, the Enz manager grabbed me a week later and I started in the Split Enz office on June 23rd. I'd forgotten how quick it all was. Anyway I digress- the Split Enz show at Festival Hall was wild. “I Got You” had lit the fuse with an entire new generation of Enz fans. “True Colours” was still in there Top 10 by the time this concert was on. Mushroom/Split Enz ran a full page advert in JUKE magazine for the Frenz of the Enz club and we gave out 2000 flyers at the show, the audience that day adored Split Enz and never looked back. Frenz for life. Great days.” (Peter Green) P.S. Sorry a long winded post. (Enz Archive Item #SE106) Split Enz Jul 10, 2026

Paul Hampton I was here. First concert ever, way back in the Uecker nosebleeds but I didn't care. Knew the words to every song and I was barely 12 years old. In 1992, I actually got to meet Fred Turner who argued with me that the show was in 1977. I said "I know I'm right dude, you're not a big of a fan as I am" Bachman-Turner Overdrive Jul 10, 2026
