 FranzzKafka Danced the entire time! Amazing energy, you really cant believe the VIBE that permeated the venue. Ricky had a ear to ear grin the entire time, tossing his head and flipping his hair off his forehead. Kate, Cindy, Keith & Fred were the ultimate energizer bunny's. Then setlist shown here is complete bullshit. They already had 3 album's by this point and working on the next one. They played a wide range of material from each. Ricky burned SO BRIGHT.  FranzzKafka The following recount of the show by Robert Wiggin: "My friends and I got put on the guest list for the show at Colby by the road crew cause they had worked helping them set up at the University Of Maine the night before, and kinda hinted that they'd help out afterward the next night too. ;) The show at Colby began with Michael wearing a huge patch of gauze over his left eye, as he had somehow gotten injured after the previous night's show, i believe at some after show party. I believe he made mention that he had scratched his cornea. Anyway, the crowd was much smaller than the night before, maybe 300 people at most, and not completely receptive to their music. There was one particular obnoxious drunk kid down front with a bottle of Jack Daniels, constantly yelling for them to "play some rock and rooooll", generally heckling and being disruptive. Mike Mills gestured for him to approach the stage, I guess asked the guy for his bottle, and took a huge pull from it. There were some conferences around the drum riser, and a song or two later, (during 'Wolves, Lower') Michael took a running start from the back of the stage, and launched himself into the sparse crowd gathered down front. You know, being real rock and roll. They of course instantly parted, and Michael slammed into the floor hard, was probably a bit dazed, and I think was helped back up, and then backstage by some of the roadies. At this point after finishing the song, the band just said screw it, and left the stage. Peter was down back to the left of the stage right afterward, looking for the drunk guy, and i heard him say, 'you just don't do that where we come from'. The band did come back & played 5 more songs as described a week later in a review in The Colby Echo student newspaper & confirmed by an audience recording of the show. Peter Buck also joined Let's Active on guitar on a song during their opening set.” I went to this show with Brett and can verify all of the above happened. We were almost under Michael when he jumped, & I remember the crowd pushing against us as they got out of the way. I remember Michael mumbling "Uhh your supposed to catch me...."  FranzzKafka One of the few outdoor concerts Stephen and I attended. It was behind the old Basketball Hall of Fame out on the lawn. Late afternoon. We stupidly forgot to have any food and were surprisingly day drunk. Ware River Club was ecstatic to be opening for their heroes. Great energy.  FranzzKafka PACKED! TMBG and Mojo-Skid blasted through and the hyped up crowd went absolutely MENTAL when Shawn hit the stage. Too many Guinesses to count, just arm and arm by the end in a great wave being pulled to and fro by baby huey barrel chested John M, Skip and Stephen. Telling my girlfriend to piss off and go home if she couldn’t join in the fun with the rest of us drunken bastards. One of the best performances I have ever witnessed.  FranzzKafka Stephen and I saw him more than once, but the most memorable show was when he was on an acoustic tour with Roger McGuinn. Just spellbinding to watch them both. I remember locking eyes with Richard early on and it seemed as if we were suddenly in a stare down session. I was transfixed, but his unblinking steady gaze wore me down and the true alpha dog continue on. Always felt like there was a full band behind him, just amazing guitar playing.
