Don Branson Beck was amazing as always! High energy & slightly different arrangements w/a little acoustic guitar & harmonica solo (one became a old-school blues solo!). His duet with Phoenix was better in person too. Phoenix was fun as well-if a little"new-discoy" for my taste. Plus I only knew "1901" for sure cause they play it at The Store 😔 We only caught the last part of Sir Chloe's set but what I heard wasn't bad. Weyes Blood sings well but balladeers just aren't my thing. I'm just glad the weather cooperated-it wasn't too hot nor did it rain. We got our value from the $25 all-in deal!  Don Branson John Heffron was hilarious last night. Making me look forward to freshman senior citizen classes in a year or two lol. Thx for suggesting it Dar! John Heffron Nov 23, 2025
Don Branson SPIRITUAL CRAMP wsg GUSHER & HEAVENLY SWEETHART: what a fun night of 70s MC5 style in-your-face speedy rock! The involuntary mosh pit that we found ourselves in on the last song was unexpected but we came out relatively unscathed. I was worried when dar went down but he was quickly helped back on his feet by the crowd and shook it off like a soldier. The openers were good too and we saw a rainbow on the way there to boot!  Don Branson When to see comedian Jim Gaffigan at the Fox last night. I've watched Jim's specials over the years but this was the 1st time seeing him in person. It was a great show as always. We missed the 1st 5 mins of it due to traffic and parking downtown. I witnessed the parking attendant of the lot behind the Fox changing that sign from $60 to $80 about 5 mins to showtime. Luckily we found $30 parking across the street. Jim Gaffigan Nov 23, 2025
Don Branson pretty good first show of 2016. we arrived near the center rd exit on 69 to find traffic backed up quite a ways. it seemed everyone in flint showed up for this one. luckily we were only in traffic for a half hour until we could park in the old target/farmer jack parking lot. its been several years since i'd been to an event in the I.M.A., perani, Dort federal event center. it hasn't changed too much in the interm except its been cleaned and painted a bit. in the lobby we saw the usual assortment of characters, including a guy in a pink suit looking like a movie pimp fromt he 70s. All the comedians were on point that night and gave us a hell of a show! charlie murphy gave an especially unexpected great performance. i'll get the acts a little more in the photos (which i think i did a little better on this time). overall i had a blast and my lungs are still healing from all the laughter. also with the comedians in the middle of the arena, i don't think there was a bad seat in the house. proceeds from the show when to charities helping flint with our current water crisis.  Don Branson w/ darrius who also took the great pic of me and Roy. We first saw Roy Wood Jr. with the Last Comic Standing Tour at the Whiting in 2010 and then solo at the same venue in Ann Arbor in 2015. He's best known nowadays as a correspondent on the Daily Show. it was a good night of comedy all around. the opener/host was good. sorry i don't remember names but he was a young man who talked about opening for anime-based rap group and how the old ladies at the venue tried to console him when his act didn't go over well. the middle act was a lady with very shiny boots who told of her lesbian experiences that weren't quite as glamorous as the magazines described. she was really funny. Roy was on point as always. he opened with "back in the basement!" (the venue is in the downstairs of a building that still hasn't finished remodeling in over 5 years). he talked about how it was easier to list the Avengers than the Democratic Presidential Contenders (there was about 18 at one point) ("how 'bout a raccoon with a shotgun?"). he covered politics, sexting, covering for married friends, weddings, etc. i think it was better than his last stand up special. he did a quick meet-and-greet w/free photos after the show. talking to him is like talking to an old friend, you wouldn't know he's been on TV shows for the last 10 years. he liked my shirt and was impressed we'd seen him last time he did ann arbor and at last comic standing.  Kim Livingston I was studying abroad this year, at Unviversite d'Avignon. Saw this concert with a friend & remember Wilson Pickett the best. Motown & soul music was very big in Europe at this time. People were dancing in the aisles, including myself. Extraordinary concert! Sam Moore / Wilson Pickett / Eddie Floyd / Carla Thomas Nov 23, 2025

Timothy O'Halloran Made the drive to Milwaukee from about 75 miles away with no problem until we got into the city. Snow was coming down at a pretty good rate. My car stalled out in the middle of a fairly busy intersection once we got into the city. Somehow we got it restarted and made it to the show on time. My friend Rick and I did not know anything about cars so it was pure luck that it restarted for us. Anyway, The Kinks put on a great show and we made it back home without incident so it was a good night. The Kinks, Cockney Rebel Nov 22, 2025
