BlueCadet old-time lo-fi DIY rock and roll night Kurt Vile & The Violators / Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band Jul 15, 2026
Eldee I went to this concert when I was in my early 20's and lived in central Az. Kiss was the headliner, but I was going to see Montrose perform and enjoy seeing the other 2 on the ticket aside from Kiss. For me, Kiss was OK to listen to, but I never bought any of their albums or cared much about them. They were all the rage with younger teenagers IMO. I just wonder if there is any possibility that ANYBODY may have knowledge of whether any video exists of Montrose playing during the extreme, radical lightning storm above them while they were on stage even through minutes of mild and tolerable rain? I am 72 now and have never before or since witnessed such an awesome display of lightning. In fact, it was so incredible that when Kiss came out to close after the lightning was over, ALL of their pyrotechnics, light displays, cannon simulations and various gyrations were laughably weak sauce in comparison to what everyone had just witnessed as GOD treated us to a taste of what he can provide if he's in the mood. The whole thing shrunk Kiss's closing act to a comparatively mild experience. Bob Seeger & the SBB, Ted Nugent, Montrose, Kiss Jul 15, 2026

Christian Wieting I saw Luther Vandross the first time live. This evening remains to be unforgettable: Despite the fantastic live performances including Nat Adderley Jr. arranging his band, the whole atmosphere inside the hall, differed from any others I saw. When my friend an I entered the venue, we saw a dress code like being in an opera. Beautiful Ladies dressed in black costumes, high heels & gently talking with their partners. Finger food and champagne had been served, smooth jazz and R&B songs playing pleasantly in the back. No beer and narrow entrances; we were accompanied to our nice seats by friendly personnel with hand lights. We were out of speech: we knew Luther and Marcus Miller, all the albums, Luther’s career path lately with two songs he sang with the Change: The Glow of Love, Searching; the two producing Aretha Franklin’s Jump to it album in 81/82 in parallel to his first album Never too Much, etc. So we thought we’d be prepared knowing at least some of stuff he worked on, but this evening… When he started singing, people who never met before started hugging each other, some ladies started screaming and crying, all the emotions exploded and Luther reflected this amazing reaction and encouraged him even more. I am missing the words to describe it more, but that’s enough. And than we followed the songs, the great performance on stage and especially the musicians arranged perfectly. The sound was like HiFi; not to lout, not overdubbed, just right in the middle and I remember that I didn’t know where actually I was; completely paralysed and enthusiastic, tears were rolling, as most of Luther’s lyrics reflected happenings in my life; like a diary. I was a the age of 23 and he sang, what most recently happened to me. Just unbelievable. I have never seen such an empathetic personality, who sang what he couldn’t solve or persuade in his life. I may this now July 15th, 2026; I am 63 and know many things he went through in his private life. In other words, it is now easier to guesstimate, where he came from. The fact of the matter that he had this heavy stroke in 2003, shortly after my father passed away much to early and his album Dance with my father had been already recorded, kind of closes the loop. I am a great friend of Marcus Miller: we share the same birthday June 14th. I remember a concert of Marcus in 2003 close to my hometown and after the great concert all in a sudden Marcus was standing next to me at a beer table. He told me that he prefers smaller venues and by that having a closer connection to the crowd. We were chatting and I couldn’t stop myself and asked him:”How is Luther doing?” he answered with a tear in his eye:”Luther is not doing good” and than silence and sadness. I happened so fast, but my feeling is that we were standing next to each other, just quite, looking at the table and my tears were rolling and that’s it. Again after all these years, now reflecting what had happened during that phase until in 2005 he died because of a hard attack, still my tears start falling. He wasn’t able to personally receive all the platinum, grammy stuff in 03/04: How sad is that. He didn’t deserve that. The song itself is so deeply touching me that I can only listen to it, when I am alone and not in public. Sorry, I wrote more than just describing this particular venue; but things became more clear to me after all these years. I love you Luther ❤️ You are missing all over the place. Rest in peace and love … Christian Luther Vandross Jul 14, 2026
